Built with care. Meant to last.
This modern retreat sits in the Wild Rock community on the rim of the New River Gorge National Park. The home features approximately 2,300 square feet of 6-inch live-sawn white oak flooring installed in long lengths reaching up to 12 feet. The flooring was installed using a glue-assist method and finished with Basic Coatings StreetShoe, with a light white tint coat incorporated to soften the tone of the oak while preserving the natural character of the grain. Knot holes were carefully filled with color-matched epoxy to maintain a clean, consistent surface. The extended board lengths help create a calm, uninterrupted field that complements the home’s clean architectural lines.
In the stairwell, oak wainscoting and a custom railing were installed to carry the material palette vertically through the space. Together, the flooring and millwork create a warm, natural interior that fits comfortably within the surrounding Appalachian landscape.
